From Providence to Purpose
By Tony Evans
This book is able God’s sovereignty and providence, Tony describes them as;
God’s sovereignty is what He wants to happen.
God’s providence is where He sets things up and connects them so that His sovereignty does happen.
The book is about God guiding humanity along pathways, intersecting us to the final place He wants us. Tony shares stories of how this has happened many times. One of the main examples is the book of Esther. He shows just how God used her and others to protect His people from harm. The story contains a lot of background information about those involved. Tony shows that God has a plan and can use different methods of connecting people to bring that plan together. The book show that God can use people for a particular purpose and things that appear to be coincidences are not.
In appendix A of the book is a list of scripture verse on sovereignty
The book is well written, and the enhancements adds to the story of Esther. (If you are not familiar with the book of Esther, I recommend reading it before reading this book for complete understanding of the story.) The book can be by discussion group and Bible study groups.
A quote from the back of the book;
“Every action or event that occurs within it has been to make that purpose a reality.”
