Restoration

RESTORATION YEAR
A 365-Day Devotional
By John Eldredge

A beautiful designed book of devotions that is inspiring and can be used from year to year. The devotional is designed for use each day of the calendar. Each devotion start with a Bible verse then a short devotion reading and ends with a short prayer. The words are very inspiring and the subject of this devotional is for you to start a restoration of your faith in God. At the back of the book is a section titled A Daily Prayer and also included is a index of the sources by dates, this lets you lookup devotions by subjects. This maybe helpful when you are dealing with certain things in your life or if you want to offer help to others.

The book should be a great help when you want to pursue a lasting transformation and experience in gaining more love for God, help in your relationships and a better life. Restoring a close relationship with God is important and this book will help.

The copy I have is hardcover and will standup to daily use and make a great addition to anyone’s library and a great gift.

BIBLE: TWO PROOFS AND TWO MIS-TRANSLATIONS

BIBLE:
TWO PROOFS AND TWO MIS-TRANSLATIONS

Why Some Christians Reject Science

By Jesse Clopton James

A quote from the book, “This book deals with the explosion of scientific knowledge in the twentieth century and how this new knowledge compares with the creation account in the Bible.
This new knowledge required scientists to change their thinking about some physical things behaved, and it required Bible believers to change their thinking about the meaning of certain Bible passages”.

The book contains a lot of information about science, it may seem at times you are reading a science textbook and it can be a bit confusing sometimes. The author uses the information to try and proof that the creation took millions of years (old earth belief) and that the belief of a young earth is wrong because of mistranslation of earlier Bible translators. The author states that the Hebrew word “Yom” was not translated correctly into Greece and English and that by the translation of “Yom” as day this causes many believers to misunderstand the word day. The author offers information to try to prove his belief. The author states that he does not believe in evolution.

In my opinion, whether we believe that God created the Universe in days, weeks, or years is not as important as to how long we will be spending eternity with or without God.

I Declare War

I DECLARE WAR

4 Keys to Winning the Battle with Yourself

By Levi Lusko

Something going on in your life that you want to change? Bad moods by day, bad dreams at night or is it fears of something that you want to change. Then it is time to declare war, Levi Lusko will take you through many problems that he has dealt with in his life and offers you a way of handling similar things from your life. He shares his fears and things that has given him problems throughout his life. His writing has Bible verses to help with the spiritual side of your needs and he also uses humor in telling some stories

The book is divided into four sections: Declare war on what you think, Declare war on what you say, Declare war on what you do and Phantom power (the help you need to win this war). Each section deals with everyday things that we have allowed to get us into a bad mood or just plain upset us.

Throughout the book there are quotes about things that we need to work on in our war with ourselves. Here are two ,

“The habits you allow in your life today are going to determine who you become tomorrow.”
“The message of the Gospel isn’t try it’s trust”

I think the book can be a help in dealing with those things that we all want to change and will allow us to see those things differently.
