Overcomer

OVERCOMER

8 Ways to Live a Life of Unstoppable Strength
Unmovable Faith, and Unbelievable Power

By Dr. David Jeremiah

This is a collection of stories about those who have overcome hardships in life. Those who do what many thinks is impossible. The stories are about different people in the Bible and those that you may have heard about in the news and those not in the news. Stories of King David and Saul, stories of many who achieved great things after having a bad start in life and shows how our faith in God is a major help. The stories are very interesting to read and show just how, with God’s help, we can become an overcomer as well. Dr. Jeremiah shares things that have happen to him over his years of ministry and of people he knows. Each chapter contains stories that fit with the armor of God that we need to be wearing and each part of the armor is explained in detail, adding to the stories that are shared. Each chapter end with a Bible verse that are uplifting and will give you something to think about.

Here is a quote from the book about overcoming;

“Jesus overcame the one who held the power of death, the devil, and freed us from the fear of death.
Because of Jesus, we can clothe ourselves and stand in joyful triumph. Just when it seemed humanity was overcome by death, Satan was overcome by Christ. Doubt was overcome by truth, and grief was overcome by joy.”

The book is well written and has a lot of information about many different subjects. It can be used in discussion groups, as a Bible study or just for a casual reading.

Great new Bible

THE INFOGRAPGHIC BIBLE

Visualising the Drama of God’s Word

By Karen Sawrey

A new way to learn the Bible, that is what Karen Sawrey is offering in this new book. A well-done collection of charts, graphs, and illustration of many different contributors and compiled by Karen are in this beautiful book. This book offers help to those who have faith or not to learn the drama and story of God’s Word in a new way. Designed for the visual generation and anyone who enjoys charts to learn, The Infographic Bible aims to create a visual image and support those graphics with text that can be understood by anyone. The Infographic Bible should not be used as a replacement for the Bible but as an addition for a better understanding and new way of seeing some information.

The charts are separated into different sections consisting of;
About the Bible-Setting the formation of the Holy Scripture,
God is Love-the nature and names of God,
Created for relationship-women of influence, etc.
Relationship broken-the fall explained,
A rescue plan-Abraham, Judges and others,
The plan rejected,
About the Bible-topic for today,
Jesus comes-Birth of Jesus, parables of Jesus, etc.,
Starting over-Pentecost, Paul,
Relationship restored-Revelation,
About the Bible-Today’s tally.

A chart of Scripture distribution in the world, a chart of languages that the Bible has been translated into, a diagram of the Ark, a chart of clean and unclean animals, diagram of Solomon’s temple and wealth and a page to get creative by coloring it, are offered at the end of the book.

This new way of learning the Bible is done very well and should be a great asset to anyone’s family time, Bible studies and personal time. It would make a great gift.

Beatitudes

LET THE BEATITUDES
BE MY ATTITUDE IN YOU

Begin The Quest

By Marlin J. Harris

The author hopes to show how the beatitudes are important and how we need to understand them. In this book you get a description of each one. Marlin says that the “Beatitudes are character building callings from the Master Himself to take up a sacred quest to become the person God created you to be.” The author was a missionary to Paraguay and shares some stories from that experience. He writes about the important of the beatitudes and why Jesus used them to prepare hearts for what He had to say on the Sermon on the Mount. The book is divided into ten chapters, each chapter dealing with a single beatitude, with an added story of a person from the Bible, such as Moses, Abraham, Paul and others. The author uses scripture verses, quotes from different writers and quotes from some Christian songs. At the end of each chapter he offers “Thoughts for meditation” section that will help you in your understanding of the beatitudes that was covered in that chapter.

The book can give you a new understanding of the beatitudes and be used fin discussion groups. In my opinion, he could have used less quotes from songs, other then that it is well written and is a informative book.

If This Doesn't Make You a Believer, I Doubt Anything Will

Who was Adam?

ADAM

You Are Descended From Adam! What About Adam?

By R. C. Besteder

What do you know about Adam? That he was the first man, created by God, was he anything like us? This book by R. C. Besteder will answer these questions and others that you may have about Adam. The author uses his years of studying and preaching the Word of God to answer questions that you may not even had thought of. The book is divided into fifty short chapters covering many attributes of Adam. These chapters are divided into three sections, Adam—a Composition, Adam and Eve, and The Sorrow of Adam and Eve. Some of the topics that are covered are: The First Man, Photographic Memory, Eve, Marriage, Spirit, Lucifer, The Temptation, Curses, Cain and Abel, Family, Sin, Capital Punishment-- this is only a few of the topics that are covered in the well written and easy to read book. It is very informative, answering many questions and is Biblical based. After reading this book you will have a new idea of who Adam was. The author tries to show just how we are like Adam in many ways and our need to keep our minds on God.

I would recommend using this book as a Bible Study or in a discussion group. It would be a great book to use with the family. Add it to your library and refer to it often.
