SHADOW OF THE STORM
Out of Egypt
By Connilyn Cossette
Shadow of the Storm is the second book by Connilyn Cossette in her Out of Egypt series. Her first book, Counted With the Stars, was about a Egyptian slave girl who left Egypt with the Hebrews at the Exodus. This was a different viewpoint of the exodus. The second book continues the story, starting at the base of the mountain when Moses receives the Ten Commandments. A story of two women who are different in many ways and work together as midwifes. The story is filled with intrigue and struggles. Shira is dealing with wanting to be a midwife and not working with her mother as a weaver. While learning to be a midwife, there is a problem with a delivery and she blames herself. Dvorah, has her own agenda of being a single mom, since her husband was killed at the golden calf celebration and trying to get away from husband’s family. The two clash throughout the story. The story is a love story with intrigue and struggles of the two women, one who believes in God and the other who is an idol worshipper.
The story contains Biblical facts and what took place with the golden calf, Moses return with the tablets and the building of the Tent of the Tabernacle. The author gives detailed descriptions of the different events and her writing will hold your interest.
I found the story believable and very factual, the story is a story that most are familiar with and show just what might have been happening to the people. Beautifully written and very informative to make a great novel.
