Outlaw Christian

Finding Authentic Faith by Breaking the “Rules”

By Jacqueline A. Bussie

Don’t quote, don’t be angry, never ask questions, grieve in secret -- These are the unwritten “rules” of modern Christianity. For the author, a faith governed by these rules is stifling, unsustainable, and dishonest. In this book Jacqueline Bussie takes your through the “rules” and explains why she believes that we need to be an outlaw Christian. She is a professor of religion at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She shares stories about people and herself to prove her point about how the “rules” can sometimes do more harm than good. She shares what she teaches her students and shows prove, by using scripture, about what she is claiming. She offers help to everyone to have a stronger faith and calls for a faith that laments, loves, laughs, longs, and lives, but never lies.

The book is easy to understand, the stories are interesting and not overwhelming with theology but a true way to understand God and His Word. Her hope is that you will be open and become an outlaw Christian and that your faith will increase. I enjoyed this book and found some very interesting facts and would suggest that this be used for discussion groups.
