41 will come

41 WILL COME

Holding on When Life Gets Tough---and Standing Strong Until a New Day Dawns

By Chuck E. Tate

41 will come is not about you turning 41 years old, it is about the stories in the Bible that has to do with 40 days, 40 years, etc. Chuck Tate has used this subject in many of his sermons and now shares some of that information in his book. He covers some of the Bible stories dealing with the number 40, such as David and Goliath, the temptation of Jesus and others. He adds a collection of stories and anecdotes of people who have gone through their 40 days or years, or hours and how their 41 has come by the grace of God. Chuck has used this theme for some years in his sermons and now share a lot of information in his book.

A very informative and hold your interest book that shows just how God is there for you and how God is in control of all things. The author share scripture verse and in the appendix shares his 50 favorite 40s from the Bible. The book would make a good discussion group book.

This quote from the book:

“This book is intended as an encouragement to you to carry on and push ahead. And it’s also as example of what can happen when you do.”

Hurts in the Church

THE BRIDE(ZILLA) OF CHRIST

What to do When God’s People Hurt God’s People

By Ted Kluck & Ronnie Martin

Hurt within the church body happen, it does not matter what church you attend, it happens. The people do the hurting. Sometimes they receive the hurt other times they do the hurting. People make up the church, each one will have their own ideas and opinions and this will cause problems if we let it. In this book, the two authors explore the hurt that can happen by others or by you. They share stories of many things that they know took place, either to them or to others. Some help is offered in handling the hurts and some Biblical references are offered.

The types of hurts and personality conflicts that can take place because of self-centeredness, selfishness and wanting to be in charge are discussed.

I thought some of the stories were too long and could have been done in a different way, however their point was made.

The hurt is not the deepest thing. Grace is deeper still.

The Apostles' Creed - Why it is important.

WHAT CHRISTIANS OUGHT TO BELIEVE

An Introduction to Christian Doctrine Through

The Apostles’ Creed

By Michael F. Bird

The Apostles’ Creed has been part of the Church for centuries and even forgot by some of the Churches. The Apostles’ Creed is a very important part in exploring and understanding the basic teachings of the Christian faith. This book will help give the creed the attention that it deserves. Michael Bird gives a complete history of the Apostles Creed and an in-depth definition of each part. He has divided the definition into fourteen chapters that will give you a new understanding what the Creed says and why it is importance in the Church. There is a comparison of different creeds and how each one came able, the Church history that may have affected the creed and most important of all he uses scripture to prove the importance of the creed. The author uses some humor in his explanation and some stories that help get his point across. At the end of the book is a section listing the scripture verses for you to use as reference.  A list of recommended additional readings is offered at the end of each chapter.

I found the book to be very informative and worth the time to read, even if you know the creed and had memorized it in Church. The book would be a good source for study and discussion groups and a great addition to any library.

Angels

ANGELS

Who They Are, What They Do, and Why It Matters

By Dr Jack Graham

Got questions about angels, are they just myths, or are they created by God. Dr Graham’s book will help answers these questions. Dr Jack Graham covers the subject of angels from all points and shares some very informative facts about who angels are and what they do. He shares different stories about how angels have helped protect people and ministered to others.

He give scripture to back up his facts as to where they come from and who they are and he divide the facts into four parts.

1.    Wisdom of Angels

2.    Protection of Angels

3.    Encouragement of Angels

4.    Presence of Angels

Then by dividing each of those parts into smaller and easy to understand information, you will see a strong case for the reality of angels and what they do and why they do it. There is a good chance after you read this book, that you will remember a time or two when an angel helped you.

I think Jack Graham gets his point across and proves that angels do exist and provided to us by God as a guardian to guide us each day. This information will be helpful in Bible Studies and discussions, easy to read and inspiring.
