Out Of Egypt

By Connilyn Cossette

A beautiful story of a young Egyptian girl, named Kiya, who was sold into slavery when her family hits hard times. She has to give up her old life of luxury and serve a mistress who takes pleasure in humiliating her. She becomes friends with a Hebrew slave girl that help her through the abuse and finds a new meaning to life. While in service to her new master, Egypt starts going through the plagues set upon them by God to get Pharaoh to set the Hebrews free. The story gives a new way of seeing the plagues, how they affected the Egyptians. The author is very descriptive and sheds new light on how much the Egyptian people suffered. When the Hebrews are set free by Pharaoh. Kiya, her mother and brother leave with her new friend’s family and start a new life. They overcome many adversities and see the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea and other miracles that God does to save the Hebrews.

The story is a love story, a story of friendship, a story of struggles and story of finding new life. Well-written and enjoyable to read, in-depth details and a book that was hard to put down once I got started reading.
