JESUS IS FOR YOU

JESUS IS FOR YOU

Stories of God's Relentless Love

By Judah Smith

A collection of stories, Bible verses and quotes all arranged in a very easy reading order. The illustrations and photos are very beautiful and adding them adds to the book theme of God's love.

Judah is the author of a series of books titled Jesus is ______, but with this book, he has finished the title and lets you know about the relentless love of Jesus. He has a collection of stories that were shared with him by people who have had some very special and interesting things take place in their lives. He adds Bible verses and quotes that add to the stories.

I found the stories, as well as the verses, to be very inspirational and even worth re-reading. The photos and illustrations are of God's creation and I think they add a great deal to the book. By reading a little each day it may add inspiration to the day.

DELIGHTING IN GOD

DELIGHTING IN GOD
Never before published -follow up to The Knowledge of the Holy
Writing of A. W. Tozer compiled and edited by James L. Snyder
A great selection of writings and sermon notes by A W Tozer. You will discover more about who God is and why we need to worship Him. This collection compiled and edited by James L. Snyder, a pastor, for our enjoyment.  These writings and notes deal with the subject of who God is and who He is not, they are easy to read and understand. If you have read any of Tozer's books you know how he loves God and his opinion about what was happening in the churches of the fifty's and sixty's. If you have not read any of his books this a good one to start with.
I found his collection very informative and very interesting reading, it was a book that was hard to put down but needed to be so you can think about what Tozer is trying to communicate to us  and understand his point of view. Sometimes his opinions may be controversial with today's teaching; they were controversial during his time as well.
A great collection and worth reading, remember to read with an open mind.

IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW

Time to stop recycling the same old mistakes, Life Lessons to Last More Than a Lifetime

By Ruby Hillsman

Ruby shares a collection of stories that people shared with her and things that happen to her. At the end of each story, she shares what she learned from them. Many stories are sad, some are happy and include stories that we all can associate with and understand. By being a listener, she has learned from her own mistakes and from others. She is making a point that if we learn to listen to other people's stories we can learn from the mistakes they made and learn from our own mistakes, life can be better and we will not make the same mistakes over again.

The stories she shares are all from life situations and most likely you may be able to relate to some of them from your own experience. The book is well written and enjoyable to read. For the young reader who may never have the opportunity to hear these stories, to the older reader who may have heard simpler versions of them, there something from all to learn and apply to their life.

Ruby encountered a large variety of people throughout her life. She met people at work, she was a nurse, people she met at gatherings and everywhere she went. Her goal in writing this book is to share these stories and things learned from those around us.

A Devotional Journey Through God's Illogical Love.

A short 40-day devotional, but with a strong message. There is a scripture reading each day, a interesting story and at the end of each devotion a some questions for you to think about. The God you thought you knew

THE GOD YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW

Exposing the 10 Biggest Myths About Christianity

By Alex McFarland

Do we really know God or do we know only what we learned from others. The true God of the Bible may not be the God we know. This book definitely will get you to thinking about what is the truth. The author explains there is a different between the God we know and the God of the Bible and that we are led to believe only half-truths. Alex uses scripture to expand the real God of the Bible. There have been many false teachings for centuries and unless you read the Bible and learn for yourself the truth, you may be led in the wrong direction.

McFarland wants to set things straight as to what we know about Christianity. Christianity is not always the way "Christians" act and talk. A real "Christian" is described in the Bible as a true follow of Christ. The information described in this book is well worth studying and for us to see what is true and what is not. A quote from the back cover says, "Maybe we've been wrong about God all this time". In this day of information, maybe it is time we find the truth and start living the truth. In my opinion, this book is a good place to start and along with the Bible, we will find the truth about God and Christianity.

God’s Love

THE RECKLESS LOVE OF GOD

Experiencing the Personal, Passionate Heart of the Gospel

By Alex Early

Does God really love me? Does God love me as much as He loves others? Is His love a true love or as the world loves?

We all have heard the song Jesus loves me and have asked ourselves the question, does Jesus really love me. Alex Early will help you find the answer. A very inspiring book that will show the answer to this question by explaining the great love that God has for us. Alex uses the Bible stories and explains the great and wonderful love that is there for you. The words of the song Jesus Loves Me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so will have a new meaning.

The book is very easy reading and I found it easy to understand. At the end of chapter five Alex offers a conversation that could take place between you and Jesus, that I am sure will give you a deeper understanding of Jesus's love for us and perhaps will change your heart. The explanations of the stories are, in my opinion, excellent and will give some new understanding to how God does love us.

5 minutes

5 MINUTES WITH JESUS

Making Today Matter

By Sheila Walsh

Sheila offers a means of spending at least 5 minutes with Jesus using a short beautifully written devotional on different subjects. She adds verses of scripture at the end of each devotional to add extra clarity to the subject written about in the devotion. This is not to be a replacement for daily Bible reading but a aid in spending time with Jesus when we have those hectic days when we are rushed. We need to spend time in God's Word each day.

These short devotions and scripture, all together in one book, will give us our life changing truths for the fast paced days when we seem to have no time for anything. The devotions are easy reading and offer a quick and refreshing start to your day. They may want to read them while you have that morning cup of coffee and will not take any extra time out of our busy day. The 5 minutes you spend reading from this devotional may be the most important 5 minutes of your day.

The devotions definitely will improve your mine and life and give you a refreshing start to your day.

God’s story

SO, WHAT'S YOUR POINT

Realigning Our Story with the Only One That Matters

By Fran Sciacca

God's story has sometimes gotten misunderstood and away from the true story, and we need to be reminded of the true story. In his book, Fran Sciacca will layout God's story and will show areas that are far from the truth. He shares stories from life and scripture to prove his point. He is a Bible teacher, and uses his teaching skills to educate the reader about the true story.

He asks the question, "Are you finding your place in God's story or trying to squeeze him into your own?". Fran will not make his readers comfortable, but he needs to be heard just as Jeremiah needed to be heard in the Old Testament.

The writing is easy to understand and packed with needed information for us to understand how God's story has gotten out of control.

When you hurt

EYE OF THE STORM

Where is God when life hurts?

By Alexander Kumpt

Do you blame God when things go wrong? This book is for you, you will receive a blessing in how to handle the hurts in your life. Alexander shares stories and scripture verses on how God’s is working in our life and that the hurts are not a form of punishment but come from choices that you make. When we make a choice, not all our choices are the best, to do things in life we will have to live with the results of that choice. Human nature is to blame someone and that someone is God.

The writing is easy to understand and offers support for those times you are hurting and going through a rough time in life. The book is not long, just 10 chapters; the tenth chapter offers discussion questions on the other nine. I think these questions are great and can help with getting a group to study the book.

Alexander offers a book that is a real help with your hard times, not a replacement for the Bible. God centered and easy to read; you will want to read it over again and tell others about the help the book offers.

Spent Matches

SPENT MATCHES

Igniting the Signal Fire for the Spiritually Dissatisfied

By Roy Moron

The author shares a history of the church growth and many things that have affected this growth. He shares many things that are going on in churches today and ideas on how some are good and some are bad. He offers suggestions to change many, by using scripture verses and his experience of church planting. Many of the ideas maybe considered controversial by some, but should be looked at with a open mind. Good or bad, the ideas are not suggested to make them right or the only way to change. He offers them as an option, even though he may thing they are the right way, he knows that all situations are different and only is suggesting an alternate way to handle these problems.

In my opinion, there is a lot of information offered and I know that situations are different in each church, but I think this book has some ideas that are worth examination and considering improving our churches. They are presented in a factual way and are easy to understand the point being shared. You may find, as you read, agreeing and even getting upset at his suggests because of your beliefs and what you have been taught about the church. Keep an open mind and try to understand the author’s explanations of why changes need take place for the growth of the church.

A Love Story

THE DIVINE SUMMIT

A Love Story

By Steven Panzer, Ph.D.

This is a story about a man and woman who, thru a chance meeting, find that they have a great deal in common. A friendship starts and develops into a realization that they have feelings for each other. They are looking for answers to their life situations, and then they realize they need God. They have one common friend that is a great help to them in finding God.

The author writes about their struggles and people in their life from the past to the present. A romantic story and a tragic story of what life can be like in the daily struggle to live in this world and to try to find and serve God. The author divides the book into three sections, taking you through different areas of time.

I found the book very easy reading, it holds your interest and the descriptions of the people and places add to your understanding of the story the author is telling. Some areas of the story maybe a bit disturbing, but it is a good story and holds to the fact that we need God in our life.

What keeps you up at night?

WHAT KEEPS YOU UP AT NIGHT
How to Find Peace While Chasing Your Dreams
By Pete Wilson
Our fears and the need to trust God are the subjects of this book. We all have fears, how we face our fears is an important thing to learn. Pete Wilson's book should help face those fears and trusting God for the correct answers. Pete writes about expecting conflicts, learn to wait, and trusting God for the right answer. There are 12 chapters with a lot of information and he offers key ideas for reviews as well as discussion questions at the end of the chapter. The advice offered come from Bible stories, how the people of the Bible, such as David, Moses, Joshua and others, handled their fears and trusted God. Pete uses stories from his life and others, as well as parables of Jesus to help us understand.
The book is very easy reading, not too long but filled with the right information. I enjoyed reading the book and found it very helpful. I agree with a statement from the back of the book; "Pete Wilson provides a plan for living that will lead you to a place of peace that you've dreamed about and a life filled with meaning, significance, and satisfaction."

Exploring Christian Theology

EXPLORING CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY

Creation, Fall and Salvation

Nathan D Holsteen & Michael J Svigel General editors

Doctrine and theology are two things that are important to the Christian life but can be the cause for division. In their book, Nathan and Michael have put together important information about creation, the fall and salvation. They share different theories that are believed by many, giving the facts of each. This is the second book in the series on exploring Christian theology and cover the three subjects that are sometimes the cause for disagreement. A separate section is devoted to each subject with Biblical verses and overviews. Some of the things offered are scripture verses that can be memorized, facts on each subjects, passages to masters, voices from the past (quotes from early writers and theologians) and a history of doctrines. A section on other writings is offered for more reading on the subject.

I found the book very easy reading and easy to understand. The information is thorough offering an in depth look at the subjects. The glossary of theological terms is a welcomed help to understanding their meaning. I agree with the one note on the back of the book: "A great way to get acquainted with key Biblical theological themes."

Why Me Lord?

WHY ME, LORD?

A Spiritual View of a Carnal War

By Jim Taylor

The book of Revelation is vision, given to the apostle John by Jesus Christ, about things that will happen. This book by Jim Taylor gives a deep look into Revelation and explains what was going on in the seven churches addressed in Revelation. The author suggests that you read the book of Revelation before reading his explanation of it. You will learn about the culture of the time, about the locations and a very good background of the people and the different religions of the time. Jim Taylor offers facts that you may not have heard and offers them in a easy to understand way, explaining the facts as a history book would deal with them.

Revelation can be a book that scares people but with this book, will definitely help with a new and open explanation that should ease the fears people may have. I have read many different books about Revelation and found this book give a new understanding to it, one that explains in good details the facts and what will take place. The author uses scripture verses to explain many of the areas and facts of Revelation. This is a book that should be put on your must read list.

Now & Forever

NOW & FOREVER

Wild at Heart - Book two.

By Mary Connealy

A heartwarming story from the early west. A romantic novel set in the Dakota Territory about a mountain man (Tucker) and a young woman (Shannon) who saves him from a grizzly and their fight to survive a fall from a cliff into a river, which is known for no one surviving the rough water. You are along on their wild adventure in surviving and their rescue. After their rescue, they get married and settle down on a homestead property, which she owns. They get to know each other better and start their healing from the river adventure. Their adventure together continues as a man is trying to burn them out of the homestead property. There are others to share in their life; her sisters also have homesteads and a Native American woman that raised the mountain man.

The story has romance, humor, mystery, adventure and God all rolled up in a great fictional novel. The book is a part of a series by the author. The details of the clothing, mountains and cabin they live in are great. The writing keeps you wanting to read more and is hard to put the book down.

I found the book very interesting and full of surprises that will keep you interested to the very end. I would really like to see it made into a movie; it has a great story line.

Truly Free

TRULY FREE

Breaking the Snares That So Easily Entangle

By Robert Morris

Do you have areas of your life you have to struggle every day? Robert Morris writes about some sins in our life that are enslaving us. He takes us on a journey to overcome the struggles that we have with sin. We open doors in our daily lives that allow Satan and his demons to slide in and hold us as slaves. Some of these areas are the snare of pride, the snare of greed, the snare of lust and the snare of bitterness. Robert reminds us that these things can make our lives miserable and offers ways to deal with them, God and His Word is what we need. A Bible verse that we should remember and learn is 1 John 4:4, "He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

He shares four steps to becoming free: recognize you need help, repent to God and others, renounce the lies of Satan and receive the gifts of the Father. He gives scripture verses and Biblical stories to help understand what is taking place.

I found the book very helpful in fighting the battle against Satan and recommend it to all who are struggling with sin in their life.

Are We There Yet?

“ARE WE THERE ------- YET?”

What if God Answered Your Questions about the End of the World….with a Sign…?

By Michael Allen & Robert Lamphier

The end of the world is something we have all heard about, either in movies, books or on TV. One of the versions we have heard come from the Bible in Matthew, told by Jesus, and in The Revelation of Jesus Christ written by the disciple John. The authors take the facts of these Biblical accounts and write a fictionalized story of the end of the world. Some of the timing of things may be different from what Christians have been taught, the rapture for one, but the things written about will happen. The facts are the truth and are vivid and graphic at times. The authors do a good job of describing what will take place and should make the reader think about the truth of the end of the world.

A quote from the beginning of the book;

“Jesus has given us WARNINGS of the great Horrors at THE END OF THE WORLD—Mankind would do well to HEAR THEM----AND HEED THEM___”.

Great Book About Life

LIFE IS __________.

God's Illogical Love Will Change Your Existence

By Judah Smith

What would be your answer to this question, Life is _______? This book by Judah Smith will direct you in the right direction and help with an answer. He divides the book into four sections and each section into four chapters detailing each section.

The sections are:

Great fiction

SHADOW OF THE MOUNTAIN EXODUS

By Cliff Graham

Cliff Graham fictionalized the early years of Caleb in Egypt. Cliff admits in the beginning of the book that he has taken a considerable amount of license with the life of Caleb. He shares a life that Caleb may have lived and how he, Caleb, became a warrior and a part of the Exodus. Cliff also shows a new view of the Exodus, which may have been how the Egyptians might have seen it.

The book starts with Caleb, as an older man in his eighty and he is leading a large army in a battle. There is some downtime due to rainy weather and a relative asks Caleb to tell about his earlier life. Cliff writes a very believable story about the early years and the story will hold your interest. Cliff holds on to the Biblical story of the Exodus, making a great story combining fiction and non-fiction.

The story is very action oriented and should satisfy the action lover and the excitement seeker. The book is a part of a series that the author is writing and should peak your interest to read his other works.

The truth

COMBATING THE LIES OF SATAN

Your Guide to Being Uncompromising in a Compromising World

By Shirley White

What lies does Satan tell us? This book by Shirley White lays them out in front of you, lies such as, Jesus is not God, God and Satan do not exist, Evolution is a fact; creation is a myth. These are just a few of the lies Satan spreads. Shirley points out that Satan tells these lie to turn people away from God and His way of salvation (the only way of salvation). The evidence she offers is scriptural and is the truth, which needs to be revealed. Shirley covers twelve lies that we have heard most of our lives and some even taught us in school, this does not make them the truth. She closes with a chapter that may make everyone to want to pursue the truth.

Shirley starts each chapter with a short conversation that could take place between God and Satan. She gives the lie that Satan tells and a strong explanation of why it is a lie and why Satan tells the lie. She does not hold back what she believes and likely will step on toes.

I found her writing very easy to understand and very much to the subject of Satan’s lies and in my belief to be true and that as a Christian agree that the truth needs told. I would recommend using this book for Bible study and discussion groups. Remember, “The truth needs to be told.”

God’s Love

DEVOTIONS FROM THE GARDEN

With Miriam Drennan

A devotional that is different from other devotionals. This devotional is full of inspirational readings, like other devotional, but includes information about gardening. A great collection of 90 devotional readings that start with a Bible verse includes some gardening details, an inspiring reading and a prayer. In each, your will find a lesson to be learned, not just for the soul but a lesson about miracles of nature. Some gardening tips are; Pinching and Deadheading, Native Plants, over watering and many more. Miriam Drennam does a fantastic job of merging gardening with ways to improve our walk with Christ. In comparing the two, she wrote with a strong teaching of how God can use some of the same methods to prune and help us grow into better followers of Christ. She writes in an easy to understand method. Even if you do not know much about gardening you will learn a new hobby as well enjoy the scriptures and a new understanding of God.

I think the book would make a great gift for anyone who wants to know more about gardening and/or more about the love of God. Beautiful picture of many different flowers and plants illustrate throughout the book, an enjoyment to view for all. I not only got my spirit lifted, but got an education on gardening.

God’s Promises

PRAYING OVER GOD'S PROMISES

The Lost Art of Taking Him at His Word

By Thomas R. Yeakley

A quote from book:

"God's Word is always trustworthy because it is founded on the character and power of God Almighty."

God's Promises are for us and He will never break His Promises. Thomas shares how we can pray over God's Promises and take God at His Word.

He divides the book into seven sections:

1. What is promise?
2. A theology of promises
3. People who have prayed the promises
4. How to plead a promise
5. Walking by faith with the promises
6. Abuses and unfulfilled promises
7. Abram: One who trusted the promises

In each chapter he uses Bible verses and shares stories, to empathize how God's Promises are important and the use of them. The stories are from his life and others that have seen proof of praying over promises and how God hears and answers. At the end of each chapter, a thought and discussion question is offered for you to use to get a better understanding of that section.

I found the book informative and easy to read. It is not a long book but you should get a wealth of information from it and a better and improved prayer life.

Head and Heart

DIVIDED

When the Head and Heart Don't Agree

By Bill Delvaux

The longest distance in the universe is between the head and heart, this is one of things we are told when we become believers in Christ. The 18-inch space that separates; what we think and what we truly hold dear. Most of the time, this is a separation that will get us into trouble. Bill Delvaux share example from his own life and from others, how the disagreement between the head and heart can affect us in our lives. The scripture stories he shared show how this affected people of the Bible and how we are to handle our disagreements of the head and heart.

Divided into three parts:

1. Viewing the divide: How it began and what it destroys.
2. Tackling the divide: Three terrains to navigate
3. Closing the divide: What the journey feels like.

At the end of each chapter, he offers a prayer, an inspirational comment and questions for discussion. I found his writing easy to understand and that at times, he was talking straight to me only. He talks about the fears and shame that we have felt and how we can handle them. We all have gone through some of the examples he shares and I am sure we will be able to handle things differently after reading this book.

A quote from the book:

"Becoming undivided is not just another task: it is the pathway into the very heart of the Father."

Facing the Blitz

FACING THE BLITZ

By Jeff Kemp

We all have trials in our lives; Jeff Kemp compares the trials to blitzes in football. Jeff is a retired NFL quarterback and uses his football background to help others with, what he calls, blitzes in their lives. There are three strategies for turning trials into triumphs;

1. Take a long-term view,
2. Be willing to change,
3. Reach out to others.

Jeff divides each of these into different parts. He uses scripture verses and stories to explain his points. At the end of each chapter, he includes questions divided into two sections,

Time out for self-reflection,
Run the play: practical application,

These are helpful in understanding and putting into use the information you have read.

If you enjoy and understand football, you will enjoy this book. I found the points that Jeff was making easy to understand with my minimum understanding of football, so do not let the football reference keep you from reading this book and finding help with trials that come your way. This book will help you to handle them. The last chapter is about finding your power source, God is there to help.

Bible in Pop Culture

All You Want to Know About

THE BIBLE IN POP CULTURE

By Kevin Harvey

Kevin Harvey offers a different view on superheroes in comics, popular movies and pop songs. His view is one that many would not even think of as a Biblical view. This book shows that God shows up in the most unusual places and that God can use anything to communicate with us.

Kevin compares the stores of superheroes, such as Superman and Spiderman, how their values and lives compare to the Bible teachings. The movie The Book of Eli and the TV show Lost are just two offerings that have Biblical values to share. Each chapter has a section on everyday quotes that we all have used and shows the Bible verses where they came from. A trivia quiz section is offered in each chapter and at the end of the book. Also at the end of the book, there is a collection of games and puzzles with a Biblical theme.

Not everyone will agree with Kevin in what he sees in these pop culture items. Is it possible that having pop culture offer redeeming values is a part of God's plan? God directed men in the writing of His Word, the Bible, so why, couldn't He use the writers of comics, movies, TV shows and songs to communicate with the non-believers and believers.

Harvest of Hope

A HARVEST OF HOPE

Song of Blessing -Book 2

By Lauraine Snelling

This book is part of the Song of Blessing collection, if you are not familiar with the collection, do not worry. The author introduces you to each character, so you will not miss out on the story. The time is 1905 in Blessing, ND, a small growing town with a new hospital and some growing pains. Miriam, a nursing student, is returning after a family emergency in Chicago. She is in Blessing working at the hospital as part of her schooling.

Lauraine does a great job describing the time period and the people of Blessing, she makes you feel like you are there and part of the story. There is romance, humor and troubles in the town, but most of all there is God. Lauraine uses scripture verses throughout the story and shows how a belief in God is very important in all parts of our lives. The people come together to face many problems that take place in their small town and the author shows how their faith gets them through each problem.

I have not read any of the other books in this collection, but would definitely read the others and would recommend any books by this author.

Easter Stories

EASTER STORIES

Classic Tales for the Holy Season

A collection of twenty-seven stories by different authors sharing the true meaning of Easter. Easter is not colored eggs and bunny rabbits; Easter is about Jesus Christ and what he has done for us. The stories in this book share that story. There are tales of forgiveness, repentance and taking our sin upon Himself.

Some of the authors are, the Grimm brothers, C S Lewis, Walter Wangerin Jr. Elizabeth Goudge and others great authors sharing the true Easter story. Some of them are short and to the point, but all are short enough that they can be read aloud for a great family time or group session.

The book, not only has great stories, compiled by Miriam LeBlanc, but has beautiful original woodcuts by Lisa Toth.

I found the stories very inspiring and especially liked the stories titled The Ragman and Robin Redbreast. These two stories were very enjoyable reading and would be great to share at a family get-together. This book would make a great gift for Easter and/or a great gift anytime.

Think Act Be Like Jesus

THINK ACT BE LIKE JESUS

Becoming a New Person in Christ

By Randy Frazee with Robert Noland

A companion to the author’s book Believe, which was about living like Jesus and had scripture verses to help us how to be like Jesus. Randy takes the same categories of Think like Jesus, Act like Jesus, Be like Jesus and add to them with examples from his life. The information in this book may be used with the information of the Believe book, which will give us a new way of looking at ourselves and the need for us to grow and help us become more like Jesus. He divides each section into ten parts and adds key questions, ideas and applications to explain those areas that we may need to work on in our lives.. He added a fourth part to this book called the transformation. This is where we take what we have learned in the other sections and put them to work in our lives to accomplish our goal of developing a plan for our own beliefs, practices, and virtues--to make the move from head to heart, for blessing others and glorifying God, as Jesus would have us do.

A few of the subjects covered under Think like Jesus, are God, salvation, and identity in Christ. Subjects under Act like Jesus include worship, prayer, and total surrender. Under Be like Jesus the subjects include love, joy and self-control. I found the information in this book very helpful and combining it with the book Believe, to be a excellent way to reach a goal of being like Jesus.

Are they real?

VISITS TO HEAVEN AND BACK
ARE THEY REAL?

By Mark Hitchcock

Near Death Experience (NDE) - is the subject of many bestselling books and Mark Hitchcock offers his opinion on the subject. He gives a list of forty books that are about NDE and out of those gives a report on four of the bestsellers. In these reports, he gives a complete outline of what the books covers. He explains why this type of book is popular and compares the ideas covered in each book. There are discrepancies and contradictions in each story, which Mark discusses. Mark devotes a full chapter, with information, about how the Bible describes Heaven.

He discusses Death Bed Visions (DBV) and gives some examples.

One of the Appendixes at the end of the book, Mark answers to commons questions about death and Heaven. Some of the questions he answers are; What happens when you die? Will we know each other in Heaven? Etc. Scripture verses about Heaven are in another of the appendixes.

I found the book easy to read and covered the subject of NDE very well. The information given will help you to understand Heaven and Hell and what the Bible tells us about them.

A quote by Billy Graham included in this book:

"Only in Heaven will we know exactly what heaven is like."

Simply open

SIMPLY OPEN

A Guide to Experiencing God in the Everyday

By Greg Paul

The simplest prayer you may ever pray is for God to open your eyes, ears, mouth, nostrils, heart, hands and mind to Him. Greg Paul gives detailed descriptions of each and shares stories about each. We need to be aware of God and know what He wants us to do. Besides describing each and the stories about each, Greg tells why we need to pray to have these things opened. Each chapter is devoted to one thing and at the end you are given a remember section, which is a short review of what you have read, and a set of questions that can be used in a discussion session or for you to think about. I found the book offers a lot of info and was easy to understand the point the author was trying to make.

Your five senses are always being used, if you practice the discipline of submitting them to the One who is closer than you are imagine, your life will be better. Moment by moment, you invite God to open you up and moment by moment you'll find yourself closer to God's grace-filled and wide open heart.

Live More, Worry Less

WORRY LESS SO YOU CAN LIVE MORE

Surprising, Simple Ways to Feel More Peace, Joy, and Energy

By Jane Rubietta

Are you worrying about things? Want to overcome worrying? You will find help in this book.

Each chapter has a story from the author’s life and how she works to overcome worry, how God is with her and us in all things. At the end of each chapter, she includes a quote from a book, a scripture verse, and discussion questions for the reader. The book, written mainly for women but can be read by men, (we are guilty of worry too and need the same help).

I found the writing down to earth and easy to understand, the information offered is helpful and a big reminder that God is there when we need him.

Jane Rubietta reminds us that God forgives us and does not remember our sins. The remembering of sins is our problem. When we worry, we are not allowing God to take care of us, as He has told us that He will.

A quote from the book:

"Though we might not remember or even have recognized God's presence, God was present. God is present in all our yesterdays, our todays, and our tomorrows."

In each chapter, Jane offers a different tool to help deal with worrying. The main point of the book is to believe that God is in our lives and is looking out for us. Let Him do what He does best, which is love us and taking care of us.

Divine Applause

DIVINE APPLAUSE

Secrets and Rewards of Walking with an Invisible God

By Jeff Anderson

How do we have a relationship with a God we cannot see? In this book Jeff Anderson, show us that we can by using personal stories and stories from the Bible. He shows how God is with us and sees everything, how God wants to be with us and protect us. If we let God into our lives, He will be close and will come visible in our minds and heart. When we visualize God this way we will sense Him and know His love.

A quote from the book:

"If you picture God frowning at you, the Christian journey will be difficult. If you sense God is always looking away from you, trying to find someone who is more interesting, you will never take Him seriously. However, if your God is one who is always there, always interested, always finding pleasure in you as His child, you will have eyes that see Him in very relatable ways.

And you will learn to trust Him enough to try seemingly unreasonable things to connect at a deeper level."

Jeff shows in his book that God wants to be with you, and shows how God will connect with you. You will learn how to experience God by using your spiritual senses. The book is very easy reading and I found the stories interesting and illustrated the author’s points. The book is inspiring and a great read. I think this book would be great for believers who need to realize that God is visible to those who love Him and desire to be near to Him. He is always there.

66 Verses

GOD'S STORY IN 66 VERSES

Understanding The Entire Bible By Focusing On Just One Verse In Each Book

By Stan Guthrie

Does this title sound impossible? Stan Guthrie has composed, what he thinks, are the 66 verses that tell God's story. He offers a short commentary for each book that gives a quick look to what that book covers. He uses one verse from that book, that when put with other verses from the 66 books, tells the big picture that God's wants us to know. The book is not to replace the Bible or keep you from reading the complete Bible, just a reference for understanding the Bible. At the end of the book, Stan has a section with just the 66 verses; if you read them together, you will understand the big picture of the Bible and his point for writing this book.

I was a little skeptical when I ordered this book, but when I got it and read through it, the title made sense and found it to be a different approach to understanding God's word. I believe it could be a help to new Christians.

PHONE CALLS FROM HEAVEN

THE FIRST PHONE CALL FROM HEAVEN
By Mitch Albom
What would happen in your neighborhood or town, if people started to receive phone calls from deceased love ones, this book is a fictional account of just that. Mitch Albom takes this idea and turns it into a heartwarming story about what can happen when a few people start getting that phone call. He describes how it can affect each person, how it will affect the town and the world. Mitch shows how vanity shows in people and how they react to the news media. Are the people crazy? Are the people being taken advantaged of? Alternatively, is it all true and the calls are real. Faith is tested and one man is trying to find the truth. You will follow the people who believe and those who do not. You will see how friendships are built in a time of needing each other’s support..
Once you start to read this book, you will have trouble putting the book down. You will be kept on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. Easy to read and full of details makes this a need to read book.
The opinion expressed here is my personal opinion. I purchased this book and wanted to inform the readers of my blog what I thought of this book.

From Tablet to Table

FROM TABLET TO TABLE Where Community is Found and Identity is Formed By Leonard Sweet It is time to return to the table at home and church. Put away our electronic gadgets and spend time with the family sharing stories and the Lord. A good place to begin is at the dinner table sharing a meal. In this day and age we have gotten so busy with our lives that we have got away from some of the best times spent by a family. Leonard Sweet has put together his thoughts about getting together at the table to learn about our family and to get together with others, spending quality time without any distractions from our electronic gadgets. The Bible is full of references to the table and food. Leonard shares them in this book. Jesus used the table to get together with many different people, offering fellowship and stories about God. I agree with the author that we have gotten away from this habit of the table and need to return to the table. We forget that with all that we try to do in our lives we have forgotten the important things and are losing special times we need. Leonard does a good job of explaining the table and gives references from the Bible. He offers examples of how this habit of the table can be a blessing to all and just how important it is to helping others understand God. The fellowship offered at the table is important to family and friends, but we need to be careful not to get hung up on the food being the reason of the get together. A song that the author refers to is Suppertime. It refers to the table that all Christians will sit at, it is the table with our Lord and Savior when we get to Heaven, a time to look forward to.
