CHRISTIAN FAITH IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

CHRISTIAN FAITH IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

The Bible of the Apostles

By Gareth Lee Cockerill

We sometimes think or have been told that we do not have to be concerned about the Old Testament; this book will change that way of thinking. Gareth Lee Cockerill gives new insight to the Old Testament and how it applies to life today. He explains how it points to salvation through Jesus Christ and gives a new understanding to the things that took place in the Old Testament. Gareth includes Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Prophets for a complete coverage of the Old Testament. He uses charts and diagrams to help you understand the things that took place throughout the old testaments. In the last chapter, he brings the New Testament and Old Testament together in the way the Bible is intended. Discover the source of the apostolic truth of the Old Testament and why the old testament is just as important as the New Testament.

God has great plans for our lives and wants us to understand his plan. We need to understand His word to get this understanding and I feel this book will help. Remember God's word is the whole Bible not just parts.

I found the book thought provoking and inspirational. The book is easy to read and understand, I recommend it for all who desire a better understanding of God's word.

A GODWARD HEART

A GODWARD HEART

Treasuring the God Who Loves You

By John Piper

John Piper, author of Desiring God, offers 50 meditations for your journey to a Godward heart. The chapters cover many subjects, such as; Does God lie, how do you give God strength, what love does and does not do, these are just a few examples of the 50 chapters offered in this informative book. Each chapter is short and may be used as a short Bible studies or devotional. I found them very easy and enjoyable to read. The reader will definitely find themselves pondering what they have read. The answers Mr. Piper gives are easy to understand and are scriptural.

Rich In Years

RICH IN YEARS

Finding Peace and Purpose in a Long Life

Johann Christoph Arnold

Growing older has its problems, but it can be rewarding. Johann, in his seventies, using examples from his own life and the lives of others describes getting older and how it can be rewarding. He offers stories of those who suffer from health issues, such as cancer and dementia. He writes about how our society treats the elderly, the way things should be and why God should be a very important part of our lives as we are growing older.

I am in the older generation and can relate to things he wrote about, taking care of our parents and preparing for what may be ahead of me before God takes me home.

A very informative book. I would recommend to the young person as well as the older person. Remember God is the most important part of us growing older. He is always with us.

The Reason for My Hope

THE REASON FOR MY HOPE -----SALVATION

by Billy Graham

Billy Graham does a great job explaining salvation, why salvation is his reason of hope. In the eight easy, to read chapters he defines sin, hell and most of all salvation. I found the book hard to put down when you start to read. Billy has been telling people about Jesus Christ and salvation for about 70 years and has not lost anything in his enthusiastic description of salvation in this book. I think this should be necessary reading for all believers and non-believers. Billy has many stories of redemption and repentance that he shares with his readers. Billy, in his 90's, still can give a strong reason for accepting Jesus Christ as savor.

He gives many thought provoking statements about how things in America are heading down the moral ladder and why we need salvation. The book is not long but packed with the greatest reason for eternal life.
