Overcome worry

HOW TO OVERCOME WORRY

Experiencing The Peace Of God In Every Situation

By Dr. Winfred Neely

Worry is something we all do, no matter if its about our home, family or job, we will worry about it. In this book Dr. Neely has offered some Biblical and practical instruction on how to overcome that worrying. His book is small but is packed with a lot of help and information that is needed for us to overcome worrying.

The book is divided into five sections titled: The troubled waters of worry, A bold imperative, The antidote to worry, A precious promise for hard-pressed people and Walking in freedom from worry. Each section offer insight into working through each area, he uses scripture verses to help in each section. He also, offers some short stories that are a great help. The book has three appendixes to help you in understanding the information. They include an appendix for a pattern of prayer, one with scriptures to aid in your battle against worry and the third is questions for you to think about.

Dr. Neely takes the subject of worry and how to deal with it to a better understanding than any other book that I have read on the subject. It was done in a way that was very easy reading and easy to understand. He done this without over burdening us with unnecessary words.  You will get a new strategy for experiencing God’s peace. The book would be great to use in discussion groups or on your own. A great way to learn to stop worrying and to learn to trust God.

A Memoir of Charlie Daniels

Charlie Daniels presents a life lesson for all of us in this book. The book is about his life, the struggles of his career and his personal opinions. Charlie shares his early years when he first decided to make music his life dream and the early experiences he had to make that dream come true. Along his way he met a lot of people, many that you will recognize their names and how they were a help to him. It was not an easy road, but he had a dream and stuck to it and became very successful. He life had good moments and bad moments- a failed marriage, the death of his father while still a young man, the death of his mother, arm injuries that could have ended his dream and financial problems. He has met many different people of the world, from authors to celebs, and has performed around the world.  His dream took him to all points of show business, music, movies, television and radio.

The book is written in an easy to read format, with short chapters making it very easy to follow his life. There are a couple chapters that really stood out to me. One was when he was describing his faith in God and sharing what he believes. Another was his political thought and how he felt when 9-11 happen.

I think this is a book worth sharing and has a lot of information that would be of interest to all and could help some that have dreams and how one man found his career dreams come true.

By Bill Thrasher

Looking for help in your prayer life, here is a book that offers help. Bill Thrasher, offers some suggestions in his book. The book is divided into nine sections, which includes -- The help of your weakness, of the Holy Spirit, of companionship, of scripture, the discipline of prayer, importance of prayer, help of fasting, waiting of prayer and power of praise. Each section is subdivided, with a total of thirty sub titles. He uses examples of prayers from scripture, things that has happen in his own prayer life and the prayer lives of others, he shares how prayers has been answered. The information is easy to read and to understand. At the back of the book he has included appendixes which include reflection questions, prayers from scripture and ideas to stimulate prayer. He explains how we need to take time to pray and that time is the most important thing we need. There is also a section with questions for those who journal.

The book can be very helpful to those who want help in their prayer life. Remember that prayer is a conversation with God, He has told us in His Word to ask and He will hear and answer us. The time of prayer can be anytime that you want to spend with God. Time is the one thing that is needed for an improved prayer life, not the words or how you say them, but the time spent with God.

This book can be used in a discussion group or Bible study or for your own time with God.

Reasons for Belief

REASONS FOR BELIEF

Easy-to-Understand Answers to 10 Essential Questions

By Norman L. Geisler & Patty Tunnicliffe

Do you know what you believe, and why?

This book offers challenges that are given about the Bible and also gives the answers to those challenges. Challenges like, “Real truth does not exist.” – “God does not exist.”- “Miracles don’t happen.” -  The New Testament has many errors making it unreliable.” – “Jesus never claimed to be God.” – “Jesus didn’t prove He was God.” – “The Bible isn’t the only true religious book.” and other questions that some people ask us, trying to trip us up and change our beliefs.

In my opinion, the answers given in this book are very reliable and Biblical sound, backed by Bible scripture, using other historical writing and references. This book is packed with information that can be useful in the daily contact with unbelievers and believers. Use it to defend your faith, you will have access to the answers with this book.

The book would make a great gift for believers and unbelievers, also would be a good addition to your library and make a good book for discussion or Bible study groups.

This review is my own opinion. Unlike other books on this blog, I purchased this book and did not receive it from any publisher. Just wanted to share the contents and information to all who are interested.

The Prayer Bible

THE PRAYER BIBLE

ICB - International Children’s Bible Translation

Published by Tommy Nelson a division of Thomas Nelson Publishing

This is a new Bible in the International Children’s Bible translation that will open-up prayer to kids and all readers. The Bible intro pages start with a letter with the salutation, Dear precious child, stating that God loves them and includes a short description of the Bible. The letter is done in a personal way and is a definite plus.

The Bible includes 160 special prayers of the Bible, where and when the prayer has been used in Bible times to help and how it can be used now for help. The Bible includes a dictionary and concordance for those study times. The words included in the dictionary are printed in bold type.

A description of how to use the Bible is included, making it very easy to learn the features and how they can be used. Some of the features used on each page are bold subject headings, highlighted key verses and footnotes. Also included are question and answers to help the reader to understand prayer.  At the back of the Bible is pages for the reader to note prayer requests or other notes they may want to remember.  A list is included of God’s promises along with a list of Bible verses for memorization, not just a list of addresses, but the verses themselves. A separate bonus of a prayer journal is included with the Bible.

I think this Bible would be a great help for kids and anyone new to the Bible. The translation is very easy to understand, and the helpful features are not over whelming as some study Bibles can be. The explanation of the prayers of the Bible are great and are a definite help to understand how helpful prayer is and why we need to pray.

There is Hope

ALL THINGS NEW

Heaven, Earth, and the Restoration of Everything You Love

By John Eldredge

What hope do we have? John Eldredge will show that we do have Hope . A hope in our future. God has promised us that all things will be made new. This promise is given to us in the Bible in the book of Revelations. What John does with this book is to show you, by using stories from his own life and from others that there is hope.  Some of the things that he shares is about his best friend death and how that affected him. He shows that no matter what the situation is, there is Hope. He uses scripture, quotes from other authors and even movies he has seen. This is all done to show that hope is there, and a time will come when all of these tragedies and struggles that we are suffering will be gone, and everything will be new. He shares that with the saving grace of Christ the we can all see this new beginning in the new earth that God has promised.

The writing is Biblical sound and will show the hope that waits for us when we decide to follow Christ. It is easy reading and informative.

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone.” Revelations 21:1 NLT
